What is the SRI?

An applied
research forum

Dedicated to the participation of financial institutions in blockchain-based financial systems.

What we do?

The SRI provides systematic analysis of onchain infrastructure, evaluating the transition from legacy frameworks to high-performance capital markets.

Our work spans the full lifecycle of institutional financial activity — from origination and execution to governance and risk management — examining the trends, opportunities, and constraints that define the next generation of market infrastructure. We bring this analysis to life through published research, closed-door discussion sessions, and working groups, drawing on practitioners from financial institutions, law firms, regulators, and the Solana ecosystem.

Why we exist?

The architecture of financial markets has changed relatively little over the past several decades. The underlying systems carry costs, constraints, and friction that the industry has largely absorbed as fixed.

Blockchain infrastructure challenges that assumption — in how assets are issued, held, transferred, and used as collateral. The case operates at two levels: infrastructure, and what becomes possible at the product level when the underlying system is programmable and barriers to participation are lower. The SRI was founded to examine those questions rigorously. The technology is moving faster than the analysis of what it means for established market participants. We aim to close that gap.

How we operate

Focused

Our work is built around Solana — a considered choice reflecting its performance characteristics, ecosystem depth, and the seriousness with which institutional adoption is being pursued.

Research-led

Every position the SRI takes is grounded in analysis. We engage with difficult questions directly, including where the evidence is inconclusive or the constraints are real.

Independent

The SRI operates as a not-for-profit organisation. The value of the forum rests on the quality of the analysis, and participants engage with us because the research addresses questions that matter, examined on their merits.

Open

Research publications are made publicly available. Sessions are held under Chatham House Rules, allowing participants to engage candidly with questions that are still being worked through across the industry.

Our Members

The SRI is shaped by the organisations that fund and participate in it. Members are Solana ecosystem participants committed to building credible, substantive engagement with institutional finance — contributing to a research programme that serves the whole community.

Membership is by application.
